Can a chiropractor help trigger finger
Ethan Hayes
A chiropractor can help trigger the finger, but not in the way one might think. A chiropractor is actually quite handy in the care of a trigger finger because it is a repetitive stress injury with a cause that can be prevented by proper exercise and activity modification.

“Trigger finger, also known as stenosing tenosynovitis or trigger thumb, is a condition that causes the finger to become locked in place. The base of the digit swells and narrows, making it difficult to move.”
When a Chiropractor is involved, there are two main techniques that he/she can use to treat a trigger finger. These are the Active Release Technique (ART) and Graston technique. These two techniques look and seem like the same thing, but they are very different. Graston technique involves scraping away scar tissue, while ART uses small amounts of pressure to stretch the bands of tissue that contract over time. This is done by rubbing hard spots with a tool such as a metal probe or you can get your own tools from amazon.

Active Release Technique (ART)
Active release technique is a process of stretching the tissue around the joints to provide pain relief and improved flexibility. It works by applying tension (pulling) to the tissues as they slide across each other, thereby stretching those tissues and allowing blood flow to improve which in turn provides nutrition and removes waste products from those areas.
Trigger Finger and Chiropractic “Chiropractors don’t claim to treat trigger fingers, but they can help you manage the condition by treating pain and recommending modifications to your lifestyle. Your chiropractor will also tell you which exercises are right for your condition.” Chiropractic treatment of trigger fingers is different than one would expect because it involves more than just some manipulation of the fingers.
