Can Gerbils Eat Blueberries? - Kylon Powell

Writer Rachel Davis

All berries that humans can eat can be eaten by gerbils. Strawberries, blackberries, blueberries, goji berries, etc., are all safe for your gerbil. However, because of the high sugar content, they should only be fed in moderation. Vitamin and nutrient-rich berries make a nutritious snack.

Are blueberries poisonous to gerbils?

Blueberries are non-toxic but aren’t healthy for gerbils. When your gerbil eats too many blueberries, they cause diarrhea. Gerbils require specific vitamins and minerals that these foods lack. A food mix should make up the bulk of your gerbil’s diet.

What fruit can gerbils eat?

Keep their diet interesting by adding fruit and vegetables to their pellets (like pear, oranges and apples), as well as nuts (like walnuts). Snack on some pumpkin seeds. Gerbils enjoy gnawing on small pieces of food that they hold in their mouths.

Can hamsters have blueberries?

It’s okay for your hamster to eat fresh, pre-rinsed organic blueberries, but only in moderation. Do not change out your pet’s regular food for blueberries. While blueberries do have some health benefits for your pet, they should be slowly introduced to his diet and never offered to him in large quantities.

Can gerbils eat apple skin?

They can eat green apples, including the skin and the flesh. Leaving the skin on your gerbil’s apple slice is a good idea because it has more nutrients than the flesh does.
