Weep holes are the smallest gaps between bricks in the lower portion of the wall. Weep holes are a great way to avoid water damage and are essential to ensure the structural integrity of the brick structure of your home. However, they can also be an extremely common entrance point for snakes.

Other pests also utilize the weep holes of bricks to gain access like lizards, scorpions, and wasps. and spiders. To keep snakes out of your home you must come up with a method of covering the weep holes.

How to keep snakes out of your house?

Eliminate entry points for snakes. This can be more easily stated than actually done. Eliminating entry points in front of windows and doors can be achieved by installing well-fitting screens, however, the weep holes that are present within the brick walls are usually ignored. These gaps between the bricks are crucial for allowing moisture to escape from the wall cavity and to let air flow in. So, it’s important to keep them clean.

This means that they give direct access to snakes and insects. The weep hole is located in the wall cavity. It’s the perfect, dry location for pests to build their home. Furthermore, the wall cavity gives access to the roof’s space and the interior of the home via vents. That means that any snake, insect, or pest that enters through a weep hole could cause damage to any part of your house.

It’s evident that tiny pests like cockroaches and spiders are able to get through weep holes. However, vertebrate pests such as snakes, lizards, and mice are also able to squeeze through the normal weep holes.

Create conditions around the home that are less appealing to snakes by eliminating any food sources that could be a source of sustenance. Also checking for leaks or other sources of moisture and maintaining the perimeter of your house free of any vegetation and storage items.

Perform preventive pest control measures. If you decide to DIY or be a professional pest Manager, the most important point is that you don’t wander away from the task at hand. Keep an eye on the task and adhere to a schedule.
