However what about other types of nuts like almonds? Well, almond is also a type of nut which can be dangerous when you have braces. Many people who have braces often want to eat almonds because it is very healthy for them but the dentist says that they should not eat this type of nuts with their braces. Nuts like peanuts and walnuts contain a high amount of protein which is dangerous for teeth because when they get in touch with the brackets attached to your teeth then it leads to decay. Some people also say that nuts can also cause mild cuts in your mouth which can lead to swelling of your gums.

The main reason behind not eating almonds with braces is the same that why you should not eat peanuts or any other type of salty food if you have braces on. Those who are having their braces on should avoid eating almonds unless and until you consult your dentist.

So, if you want to eat almonds then it is recommended that you should avoid eating them after meals.
