Can you eat sprats whole?
David Wilson
Sprats are a type of fish. Sprats are small and are typically sold in canned form as Sardines. You can, indeed, take the whole sprats in as the canned sprats can be very soft. So even the tails, heads, and fins have the same flavor. You don’t know which part of the sprat that you are eating. Sprats taste better than sardines and are less expensive than anchovies. They are also extremely healthy small oily fish, they are packed with omega-3 fats. Sprats ought to be on the menus of every restaurant! You can follow the procedures below to eat the sprats if you have any confusion.

Step 1
Cut off the middle of the stomach of the sprats using kitchen scissors, and then rinse the insides. Take the gills off with your fingers. Keep the heads and the bones in the smaller fish, since they can be consumed.
Step 2
Skewer sprats into sprats. Brush with lemon juice and olive oil. Season with your favorite herbs and spices, such as salt, oregano, pepper, and red pepper flake.
Step 3
Set skewers on the aluminum foil-covered grill pan and cook one side until slightly brown. It should take about three minutes. Turn sprats upside down and cook on the opposite side for around two minutes. Remove them from the grill and enjoy them whole with bread or crackers.
