Painting your teak wood furniture is not something we recommend doing. Teak’s natural beauty is obscured by paint, and over time, water will cause the coating to flake, peel, or crack. Because of the wood’s naturally high oil content, paint and other finishes have a hard time adhering to teak.

Teak wood can be painted with a wide variety of products. However, latex or oil-based paint is the best option. A shellac-based primer will benefit from the use of these products.
