A simple “no” answers this question. Vents are there to allow for the free flow of air in a building. If you impede the flow of air, your home will operate inefficiently and your HVAC system could be damaged.

Vents should not be blocked with furniture. Your sofa or armoire could be damaged if you place it on top of a vent, which can dry out the wood. You may also increase the cost of your utility bill or prematurely wear out your furnace or air conditioner by making it work harder.
