If you’re traveling with knitting or needlepoint supplies, you’re free to pack them in your carry-on or checked luggage. Any cutting or needlepoint tools with blades, including circular thread cutters, must be checked as luggage. Scissors smaller than 4 inches are permitted in your carry-on baggage.

Can I take sewing kit on plane?

The TSA will allow many sewing-related items in carry-on luggage starting in May 2021. TSA agents have the final say on what can and cannot be brought onto a plane, so it’s a good idea to pack light in case your belongings are seized.
