A strong bond between the epoxy coating and the substrate is required because if the epoxy debones, so does the tile.

Epoxy floors with a thin-film polyurethane topcoat (often referred to as “urethane”) produce the best results, but this is not always the case. In contrast to epoxy floor coatings, polyurethane topcoats have several distinct advantages over them.
