How long does window tint take to cure in the winter?

Window tint in the winter is not much different than in summer. The heat generated by the installation process will melt ice, snow, and frost from the window before curing begins. Remember that tinting can take place during any season because all that’s needed is to remove moisture from the film prior to application. This process doesn’t change when installing window tints in the winter because it’s impossible for humidity to get trapped under the film if it hasn’t been applied yet.

The main concern with window heating when installing window tint at this time of year is reducing condensation on cold glass. When warm air comes into contact with a cold surface, such as your windows after the installation, you risk condensation forming on the window.

Window film needs to be applied in temperatures above 40 degrees Fahrenheit and the surface of the glass should not be wet or covered in frost. However, if condensation does form on the glass during installation, it won’t affect the adhesive ability of your tint. You can simply wipe it away with a dry cloth after curing is complete.

Why is it difficult to tint windows in the winter?

The cold weather makes it extremely difficult for tint adhesive to stick to the glass properly. The most suitable of temperature changes can affect this process with a significant impact on the finished product. In extreme cases, you could end up with ripples or bubbles in your film that will become very noticeable once your car warms up to regular temperatures again.

When applying window tint in the winter, consider waiting until temperatures are above 40 degrees Fahrenheit before starting installation. You may need to wait until the following day if the moment it hits this mark is after dark because you can’t work with tint at night without either illumination or bright sunlight.
