If you use a camping stove inside your tent, you run the risk of catching fire and causing serious damage or even destroying your gear. Being burned and seriously injured can be as life-threatening as not having a shelter in cold or stormy weather because you’ve burned it down.

Can you put a stove in a tent?

The practice of ‘Hot Tenting,’ or heating your tent with a stove, is well-known and can be extremely effective. In contrast, a stove cannot be installed in any tent. The hot flue pipe (also known as the ‘chimney’) must have an opening in the tent, so it is usually canvas or polycotton.

Are wood stoves safe in tents?

There should be no stove near the canvas walls of a tent to avoid a fire. Securing the stove requires either a central stake (inside the tent) or an extendable ridge rope or legs.
