Can you wear tungsten ring in pool

Writer David Wilson

To ensure that the tungsten carbide rings last for a long time, it’s wise to keep them off during swimming sessions. While tungsten is an extremely robust metal, it can respond poorly to the harsh chemicals that are typically found in the water of a pool. The most common chemicals are ammonia and chlorine. these may cause damage to or blemish on the tungsten rings.

If, however, you’re taking a dip in your private pool, and you are certain that it doesn’t contain any of these chemicals, you can wear your tungsten band while swimming. Be sure to take safety precautions and air dry the ring following your swim.

Tungsten rings are strong and durable and therefore an ideal option for wedding bands. Tungsten carbide is a remarkably tough metal that is impervious to scratches and doesn’t fade in its shine with time. The downside is that plated rings, be it with gold, black or rose plating are more susceptible to scratching because it’s not the natural color of tungsten. Inlays, as well as other patterns and designs, are also more susceptible to wear than an unadorned tungsten ring.

Not all tungsten rings are made equal. There are many cheap rings made from tungsten available on websites and are likely comprised of low-quality industrial-grade carbide, which is made using cobalt as a binder. It is advised to stay clear of these rings as they’re not as durable as authentic tungsten carbide rings and result in skin irritations. Additionally, they might not be waterproof, as opposed to genuine tungsten carbide rings.
