How do bird mating?

The cloacal kiss is the preferred method of mating among birds. The male balances on the female’s back as he mounts her from behind. She adopts an arched posture and wags her tail in the opposite direction of the rest of her body. For a brief moment, their cloacas come in contact.

How do birds mate and reproduce?

Until an opportunity to mate presents itself, male birds store their sperm in their cloaca, and females receive that sperm into their cloaca before it travels deeper into their bodies to fertilize their ovaries and begin egg formation.

Do birds make sperm?

Internal fertilization is the process by which birds reproduce, in which the egg is fertilized within the female. Like reptiles, birds have a single cloaca (or exit and entrance for sperm, eggs and waste) like that of lizards. Female cloacas receive sperm from the male’s sperm sac.
