Birds are known for doing something that resembles vomiting on a regular basis. As a matter of fact, they’re just trying to regurgitate the contents of their mouth, esophagus, and digestive tract. Nodding its head and sticking out its neck like a cat, a regurgitating bird will bring up whatever it doesn’t want to eat.

Birds communicate their “interest” in one another through regurgitation.2 Pet birds frequently vomit on other birds, people they like, or even their favorite toys as part of their natural courtship behavior. Your bird’s regurgitation is a sign of affection if it does so on your hand.
