Do Spiders Like Clean or Dirty Houses?

Writer Andrew Davis

The most important thing about spiders is that they love dirty houses, cluttered, and dark places, so tidy up. Spiders usually like to hide in anything you have left lying around like boxes, clothes, and random things cluttered over as they provide a good hiding spot to spiders. Food leftover or some poorly disposed of food attracts many insects like ants so spiders also snack on it.

Spiders don’t really like damp areas, they are just the ideal place for a lot of insects and hence spider food. Some spiders prefer damp conditions while most others linger in dry areas.

Most spiders are attracted to a humid and moist environment; therefore they inhabit basements, dark crawl spaces, and other damp areas inside the house. Some spiders like to inhabit quiet, dark, and hidden spaces where they can easily find food.

Eating habits of Spiders

Spiders mostly feast on insects but some big spiders also like to forage on worms like wax worms, mealworms, even snails, and some small vertebrates such as lizards, birds, frogs, and bats.

Interesting Facts about Spiders

First things first, not all spider bites are deadly or lethal. Spiders have blue color blood and they secrete silk in liquid form but Spider silk is the strongest of all. Female spiders can even eat the male spiders because they have larger appetites.

Lifecycle of a Spider

The life cycle of a spider has 3 stages of development, from egg to the spiderling and then finally to an adult spider. But it does depend on the species; some spiders can lay around 3,000 eggs, in a silk sac. But in some species, the female spider dies immediately after laying the eggs. Some female spiders carry their egg sacs in their chelicerae or may attach them to their spinnerets.
