If you’re planning to take advantage of your backyard and keep it mosquito-free it is important to learn about the method of a tiki torch.

Although mosquitoes can be incredibly irritating, they are essential to the health of an ecosystem. In reality, male mosquitoes can be beneficial pollinators, while only female mosquitoes bite and consume blood.

However, the number of mosquitoes is far greater than humans and researchers say that the insects aren’t in any threat of disappearing anytime in the near future. In light of that and considering the multitude of diseases that mosquitoes may transmit through the bites they are widely considered to be dangerous and at times risky insects in the backyard.

What a Tiki Torch is and how it works as a mosquito repellent?

It is also called a citronella torch (especially when it is made to deter mosquitoes). The Tiki torch is a beautiful and practical outdoor tool that offers a range of ways to repel mosquitoes as well as other flying pests with scent and smoke.

Citronella-Infused Tiki Torch Fuel

Citronella is a plant and it’s a member of the Geranium family. Geraniums naturally repel many pests, and citronella’s not any different. Citronella can be used in a variety of ways to ward off pests like mosquitoes. You can do this by using citronella spray or oil or by planting a few citronella flowers in your yard.

Citronella is mixed with the fuel, and as it is burned, it releases an unpleasant smell and the smoke confuses mosquitoes and stops them from smelling sweat and carbon dioxide released by humans.

This makes it harder for mosquitoes to bite you. As with smoke, the citronella-infused tiki torch’s power is only as effective in the proximity of you. If you are away from the citronella-infused tiki torch, mosquitoes could easily bite you.

What To Wear to Avoid Mosquito Bites When Spending Time Outside

There’s an advantage and disadvantage to using a tiki torch but even with top fuel for tiki torch that is designed to deter pests, you’re susceptible to being infected.

If you don’t want to wear chemical or essential oil sprays outdoors during mosquito season, you may wear protective clothing. Of course, having long sleeves on and pants will not suffice. Mosquitoes often infiltrate certain substances, which is why it’s crucial to be aware of what you wear to protect yourself from bites.

Wear Nylon, Cotton, or Denim-based clothing

Wearing clothing made from these fabrics may work in conjunction with the most effective tiki torch fuel to shield you from mosquitoes and their bites. The fabric mentioned above is typically knitted tightly and thick enough to block the mouth-like shape of a needle mosquito. If you truly wish to be safe from bites from mosquitoes you could even consider wearing the head net.

 Avoid dark colors

The mosquitoes prefer darker-colored clothing, such as deep blues, dark reds, browns, and black. If you’re planning to go outside in the mosquito season, think about wearing brighter colors such as white, yellow, and light pink.

It’s possible that you’re not the most fashionable guest at the backyard party however, at least you won’t be waking up with a plethora and a number of mosquito bites.
