Incense is a great way to repel mosquitoes and other insects, if it’s a blend of natural insect repellents, such as citronella, peppermint, or Eucalyptus. However, the more traditional scents such as jasmine, sandalwood, and honeysuckle, do not have any effect on mosquitoes. It is possible to choose tested insect repellents instead.

You may want to think twice about the majority of traditional incense used as insect repellents. Only those that contain the essence of nature that is present in insect repellents, such as citronella, can keep the insects off your arms and face when you’re out in the open.

Citronella oil is a natural product made from plants of the family of lemongrass that is safe for pets or humans and has been accepted as such by government officials of the United States government as an effective insect repellent since 1948. It’s not harmful to insects in any way, it’s just a way to keep them away from your pets and family. It is effective against insects due to citronella’s distinct scent can make it difficult for mosquitoes and other insects to locate an “host” to bite, and they’ll try to find another place.

Citronella is available in various forms, ranging from the classic candles-in-a-bucket to sprays, lotions, or rub-on liquids. To ensure that the effectiveness of your product is maintained over an extended time outdoors, it’s important to apply citronella products on a regular basis every 30 to 60 minutes. The Food and Drug Administration of USA includes citronella in its designation “Generally Recognized as Safe,” or GRAS despite restrictions that have been imposed in Canada as well as the European Union because of localized adverse reactions.

Candles can be purchased from many vendors in a variety of scents. There is also the option to try creating your own candle. Candle making is a loved pastime that has tutorial videos available on YouTube and local classes. Making your own candles, you are able to experiment with various scents until you discover the one that is right for you. If you’re a fan of making candles, you’ll love it. Candles are a great option because they can keep burning for a long time, their scent not fading or diminishing in intensity.

If you are planning to use citronella outside and in the sun, citronella candles are a great method to go about it. They have a strong smell and are beautiful on an evening that is dark. Citronella is the best choice for repelling mosquitoes. However, it’s more ineffective against different insects. Citronella is another important advantage. It can be used after cooking to remove unpleasant smells. Other scents of candles that can be used to repel those insects include peppermint, lavender marigold, and pine.
