Can you put a fish tank near a fireplace?

You can see the heat coming straight into the room because we have a fan-powered insert. Because it has doors, there will be no soot or ash dust buildup. A few tanks line the same wall as the fireplace and are only a few feet apart. No issues here.

Can you put a brick in a fish tank?

Bricks, if my memory serves me correctly, are incredibly porous. If they were to come into contact with a fish, I’d be concerned about how rough they would be. It would be ideal if you could find some that were more supple. Ensure that none of your fish get snagged in any of those openings.
