The first thing you should do is to contact your service provider. Ask for help right away. Tell them what happened and ask if they’re able to retrieve it back for you. They will need to know detailed steps that were taken, how the account was stolen etc. Your internet service provider has people that are trained in this field and they have the ability to deal with these issues.
Check the FB policies to understand how you can retrieve the account
You should go over their policies and understand how your account can be retrieved back in case you were a victim of hacking. Update your details. Make sure that all information in your profile is updated, including contact info. If it was hacked, there’s a big chance that someone will try to change the email registered in your account. If you have an email that is connected to your main profile, then you can check if there are certain activities on it. However, if the hacker was able to hack your Facebook page, then they might be using a different e-mail address.
Check for any suspicious activity
To make sure that no other pages are linked to your account, you should check for any suspicious activity. If someone was able to get the password of your Facebook, they can also get other accounts like Gmail, Yahoo, and Microsoft. They will use the same password because it’s easier for them to remember.
Try changing the password and the email/phone connected to it
If your account was hacked, you should immediately change the password. Make sure that it’s difficult so hackers will not be able to remember what it is. You can also check if the email and phone number connected to your Facebook are correct. If they’re using different e-mails or phone numbers then there’s a big chance that your account is now being controlled by a hacker.
