How Do Spiders Excrete Waste?

Writer Ethan Hayes

Like humans and animals spiders are living creatures and they excrete waste from their body. Spiders possess the excretory organ, Malpighian tubules, which open into the intestine.

Spiders possess waxy compounds in the epicuticle, the outer layer of the exoskeleton, which greatly reduce evaporative water loss. The waxes in the epicuticle not only reduce water loss but can also act as a water repellent, reducing the danger of submersion in droplets of rain or dew. Spiders eliminate their nitrogenous wastes as compounds insoluble in water thereby not requiring that water be excreted.

Spiders poop

Spider poop is more like highly viscous liquids and dark in color. If any day you pay some attention and look at your painted walls you will see some unwanted spots which are small and stick to the walls, this can be a spider poop. Spider’s poop is not solid and toxic. Spider droppings can seriously stain your furniture, fabric, and walls. These stains can be difficult to remove. People think that spiders don’t poop, however, this is a myth. Spiders do poop even if you never see them do it. Spiders can live without food for a plenty of days.

Spiders have a very low metabolic rate but it doesn’t mean they don’t poop. They poop when they eat and it’s a natural phenomenon.

Spider’s urine

Most people think whether spiders urinate or not and some people think most spiders urinate with their poop because the poop of spiders is not solid. It is semi solid in appearance and people thought that there is spider urine along with it.

Some spiders don’t urinate as other spiders do because they use this to moist their bodies. When spiders urinate they excrete nitrogenous waste along with it. Some spiders also use nitrogenous waste and deposit it on their bodies.
