How do you know when sciatica is getting better?

It’s as simple as figuring whether or not the pain is “retreating or progressing” or if it’s becoming more intense. Consider this: if the pain is in your bum one day and down your legs the next, it has most likely worsened and is not improving. And if the pain is “leaving,” it means the sciatica is getting better.

What is the duration of a sciatica flare-up?

An acute episode can last one to two weeks and usually resolves itself within a few weeks. It’s not uncommon to experience some numbness after the pain has subsided. You may also experience sciatica a few times a year. Acute sciatica can progress to chronic sciatica.

Is it true that sciatica gets worse before it gets better?
