How Far From Floor Should Shower Curtain Hang?
Andrew Davis
A standard 72-inch shower curtain requires a curtain rod that is 75 to 77 inches above the floor. The shower curtain will not come in contact with the floor if you set the bar at this height.

You’re not supposed to have your shower curtain touch the floor. For one simple reason: it keeps moisture and dirt from collecting at the curtain’s base. The curtain hem should be at least two inches away from the bathroom floor.
Where should shower curtain rod be placed?
Ideally, the shower curtain should be between six and twelve inches wider than the shower rod. It’s best to place the rod about 3″ from where a straight rod would normally be mounted. The rod’s midpoint should protrude several inches beyond the tub’s outer rim. Mount the rod 6 to 8 inches away from the tub’s center line, depending on the model.
How are shower curtains supposed to hang?
When the curtain is hung from the rod, the wrong side should be facing the liner. Push the rings through the holes in the shower curtain and lining one at a time. Shower curtains that measure 72 inches by 72 inches should have at least 3 to 5 inches of hanging length from the curtain hem to the floor.
Should you keep your shower curtain open or closed?
When the shower curtain is not in use, it should be closed. Mold and mildew can grow in the folds if you leave it open.
