When it comes to how quickly your snake eats its prey, there are a number of variables to consider. A small mouse can be digested by a snake in two or three days if it has access to warm temperatures. A large python that eats a deer, on the other hand, may take weeks to finish the meal.

Snakes should not be handled for 48 hours after a meal in order to avoid regurgitation. At the very least, your snake should not be fed for seven days after a trip, to give it time to recuperate. During this time, water should also be provided. Distended intestines can be damaged by excessive handling as well.
