BMW oil change takes about 30 to 40 minutes. With the oil filter, it takes about 35 to 45 minutes. With a new oil drain valve, it takes about 40 to 50 minutes. In order for the correct amount of oil to be drained from your BMW’s sump during an oil change service it has been found that you need to have performed around 125 miles
The oil change process begins by removing the dipstick. The cap to release the filler neck is removed and a funnel is inserted into the neck. The BMW technician then removes or replaces an oil filter that is often located on top of the engine.
After this, new oil fill spouts a rubber seal and a gasket are installed in the oil filter housing. The technician then fills the engine with the correct amount of oil, removes the funnel, and replaces the filler neck cap and dipstick.
The last step is to reset the service light. This is done by pressing and holding the left button on the multi-function steering wheel until “service due” appears in the instrument cluster. Scrolling through the menu with the right button on the multi-function steering wheel, you will see “reset the service interval.” Once this is highlighted, press and hold the left button until “done” appears.
