How long does it take to build a parking lot?

Writer Gabriel Cooper

Building a parking lot has many factors to consider but we can estimate it to be two-four weeks.

The factors to consider include the size. The bigger the area the more time it will take to build a parking lot. For example, building a small parking lot will be easier and faster than building a big one because you’ll need less concrete and other materials like pebbles and metals for reinforcement, excavation, and surface preparation of the land where the parking lot is to be constructed.

So let’s say we have two different situations, a small and a big one which, need the same amount of space but the final goal is to build a parking lot for 400 cars. In this example, it will take less time and cost less money to make the small parking lot rather than building a bigger parking lot.

Also, the building materials can’t be easily accessible in some locations so land transportation might need to be taken into consideration when it comes to the transportation of these materials. And since we’re talking about parking lots here, there will also be a place for the construction machines such as bulldozers and cranes. This is an important factor because space for these machines is needed when building a parking lot.

So let’s say that in our example, it will take four weeks to build the big parking lot and two weeks to make the small one. This is because of many factors including availability of construction materials, land transportation, and access to the construction site. But for this article, we’ll stick with two weeks to make the big parking lot and four weeks to build the small one.

In my opinion, they both can’t be built at the same time because if you’re going to dig a foundation for the big parking lot it will only delay the building of a small one. If we follow my analogy above about how long it takes to build a parking lot, we should dig one foundation at a time; even if you’re going to build the small parking lot.
