How Long Does It Take To Replace A Toilet?

Writer David Wilson

Because replacing a toilet is such an easy and straightforward task, you should be able to remove the old toilet and replace it in two to three hours. The duration of time it takes to change a toilet is determined by the reason for the replacement.

Turn Off the Water

The very first move is to turn off the supply of water. This is an important step to remember! Otherwise, you may risk overflowing your bathroom during the replacement process.

Remove the Old Toilet

Empty the tank of water first, and then use a wrench to remove the nuts that hold it to the floor. Even though it shouldn’t take much time, emptying the water could be the most time-consuming part of the procedure. Don’t be shocked if this step takes you an hour.

Replace the Flange

You should check the flange underneath the toilet now that it has been removed. You’ll need to replace it if it shows symptoms of wear and tear, such as cracks or rust. This should take probably 1 or 2 hours.

Add a New Wax Ring

Before installing your new toilet, you should replace the wax ring on the flange. This implies you’ll have to take out the older one, which should be quick but may not come out completely undamaged. It’s possible that you’ll need to spend a bit of time clearing out the old wax.

Install the New Toilet

Place your new toilet in position and tighten the screws using your tool. You’ll also need to attach the water pipe to the back of your toilet, which should be a quick task.

Turn the Water Back on

When the new toilet is secure, remember to turn the water back on. To make sure there isn’t any water leaking, flush the toilet a few times.
