How should sandals fit - Kylon Powell

Writer Ethan Hayes

The sandal’s base should fit your foot shape. To provide adequate support, it should be as wide as your foot. It should also have a thicker sole with a low heel to absorb shock and protect your foot as you walk. The second step is for you to ensure that the shoe’s length is a perfect fit for your feet.

Should I order a size up or down in sandals?

Your sandals should be wide enough to accommodate the widest part of your feet without being too tight. It’s sometimes better to go one or half a size larger than your regular shoe size, because your feet can expand during the day, especially during the warmer months or if you’re standing for long periods of time.

How much space should there be at the end of a sandal?

While it’s important to avoid shoes that are too big for your feet, there’s a good chance your sandals could benefit from going up at least a half size. When you stand upright, your entire foot should sit within the sole of your sandals, as previously stated.

How can I tell if my sandals are too large?

If your toes or heel protrude from your sandal, they are too small! If your foot slides around in the sandal and you can’t get any support, they’re too big! If your toes are overhanging, you run the risk of stubbing them or damaging your heel.

Should flip flops be a perfect fit?

The sole will not provide adequate support if you can bend it completely in half or wring it like a wet rag. The thong of the flip-flop should be comfortable, neither too loose nor too tight. Lastly, Sstraps that are too tight may irritate the skin and cause blisters.
