Is it possible to can cheese?

We cannot endorse this practice because it has not been scientifically validated. There is a risk of Clostridium (C.) botulinum contamination in cheese and cheese milk. Cheese has a pH between 5.1 and 5.9, making it a low acid food that should not be canned because of this.

How do you preserve cheese for long term storage?

Cheese can be protected by wrapping it in cheese paper, wax or parchment paper, and then taping it shut. Plastic wrap, a sealed plastic bag, or a sealed glass container work well for hard cheeses that will be consumed quickly.
