The materials for balusters can be accessed by going to the browser, clicking on families, railings, and then selecting the baluster. You can then edit the material there. Use a handsaw to cut both pieces simultaneously. This will ensure a perfect match. Use a miter box or a saw to cut the ends of the rail at 45 degrees. Measure and Cut the pieces or Railing to the wall. This will prevent items from catching on the rail’s ends.

- You can create a new railing family by using the Revit Family Profile. Click “File/New/Family”, scroll down to Profile-Rail, and then click on “File/New/Family”.
- Profile-Rail includes a Rail Top and a Rail Centerline.
- Click on the Create tab in the ribbon. Line command under the detail panel.
Add a Continuous Rail
- Choose an installed railing system in your model. Click the Architecture section, then click the Circulation Panel (Railing). From the Property palette click Edit Type.
- Then, in the Type Properties dialog, under Top Rail, Handrail 1, and Handrail 2, click the Type field.
- Select the drop-down arrow and then click to choose a kind.
Utilize the Multistory Tool: Select Levels to design a multistory stairway using an existing staircase in this model.
- From an elevation perspective, select the stair based on component.
- Go to the Modify Stairs section and click on it. Panel for Stairs Leading to Multiple Storeys (Multistory: Select Levels).
- Make sure that you have the Connect Tools tool for Levels is in the Ribbon.
