It is not necessary to use any tools to change the battery in the key fob. If you have trouble taking out the old battery, a flathead screwdriver may come in handy.

1. In order to release the switchblade style metal ignition key, you must first click the chrome silver button located at the very top of the fob.

2. Next, insert your thumb into the crevice where the metal key used to be and peel the back cover away from the front cover.

3. Carefully turn over the key fob and lightly tap it against a table or counter to extract the outdated battery.

4. When removing the old battery, carefully pry it out with a little flathead screwdriver to ensure that it is completely removed.

5. Prevent scratching or harming the green circuit board or metal electrical contacts underneath the battery.

6. Install the new battery in the socket with the negative “-” side pointing down and the positive “+” side pointing up and towards you.

7. Align the battery cover with the backside of the key fob by squeezing it together.

8. Carefully snap on the back battery cover, making sure that it is flush with the edges on both sides.

9. Alternatively, you can go close your Sorento and push either the “Unlock” or the “Lock” keys to check the new key fob battery.

10. The parking lights should flash and you should hear the door locks opening and closing if the new battery is functioning properly.
