How To Change Battery In Key Fob Chrysler 300
Andrew Davis
The main tools required to remove and change the battery are a flat screwdriver and a plastic prying bar tool. To proceed, turn the key fob over and look for the grey metal switch on the underside.
To remove the metal ignition key from the socket, slide the switch to the left and pull it out. Place the spare metal ignition key somewhere secure until you need it. Cover the screwdriver with a little microfiber cloth or pry the screwdriver out of the plastic using a plastic automotive pry bar tool to avoid harming or marring the plastic surfaces. Insert the screwdriver blade into the slot where the metal key used to be and gently pry the two sides of the key fob housing apart with the screwdriver blade.
With your fingernail or a small flathead screwdriver, pry the old battery from the socket at the backside of the fob casing, being cautious not to damage the battery socket. If at all possible, prevent bending or scratching the metallic electrical connections. Place the positive side of an unopened CR2032 coin cell battery into the battery holder while gently pushing the negative side upwards towards you. Align the front cover of the key fob housing with the key fob housing’s back part. Gently press the two pieces of the key fob together with light pressure until they are flush. Insert the backup/emergency metal ignition key several times into the slot until it clicks into place.
Get close to your 300 and hit the Unlock and Lock controls on the key fob to check the key fob battery. You should observe the parking lights flashing as well as the door locks opening and closing to see if the new battery is functioning correctly.
