How to change seat belt color

Writer Rachel Davis

You can alter the color of your seat belt by purchasing a color seat belt you prefer and then replacement with the standard seat belt. The replacement of the entire seat belt on your vehicle is less difficult than replacing just one part. A seat belt replacement can be accomplished in a short amount of period.

Step 1:

Locate the bolts that secure each end of your existing seat belt. You might need to take a cover made of plastic off the bolts’ top in order to view the bolts. The cover could disappear or you may have to remove it using a screwdriver. Certain cars don’t have a cover for the retractors of the seat belt and in this case, you’ll be able to observe the bolts clearly. Depending on the model the bolts could be attached to the sides or back of your seat. They could also be attached to the floor or even an armrest. If you are wearing a three-point seat belt, you’ll have the lap belt, shoulder strap, and buckle to remove. If you are only wearing the lap belt, then you’ll only have to unbolt the buckle and belt.

Step 2:

Unbolt all the ends of the seat belt using a wrench. It is necessary to remove the retractor’s side and the side that the seat belt bolts into.

Step 3:

The new retractor should be positioned up to the holes you’ll be inserting the bolts into. Some vehicles could be equipped with just one bolt however, others might include two or three bolts.

Step4:

Adjust the retractor to the proper place and secure it with your tool. If you own lap and shoulder belts, join them and secure them by bolting them together.

Step 5:

The new buckle should be positioned to the holes you’ll be inserting the bolts into.

Step 6:

Install the new buckle in the desired position, and tighten it using your wrench.

Step 7:

Check the belt’s condition using the puller away from the retractor, and then allow it to retract into its place. Inject your tongue from the belt into the buckle, and press it down to make sure that the belt remains secured to the buckle.
