How to clean black granite fireplace
Andrew Davis
Black Granite is a smooth stone that is known for its refined look. Whether you’re searching for a traditional fireplace with a cast insert or a more modern appearance like the Stonehenge Black Granite Fire with inset gas fire, these fireplaces look great in any environment. Granite is perhaps the most common material for a fireplace surround, and it is also one of the most durable. It’s scratch-resistant, won’t fracture or chip, and can withstand high temperatures. Granite may be used in both gas and wood-burning fireplaces. It’s all about keeping up with preventative maintenance.

It is always preferable to prevent an issue from occurring than dealing with it after it has occurred. We recommend cleaning your hearth at least once a week with warm, very weak soapy water to avoid any unwanted residue or build-ups, such as ash.
• A gentle brush is required.
• A dustpan is required.
• A bucket of water
• A mild dishwashing liquid
• A soft, nonabrasive cloth
• A dry towel or cloth to use as a drying towel.
The following is a weekly cleaning schedule:
• Remove any dirt and dust from the fireplace using a gentle brush.
• Scrub as hard as you like as long as you don’t use anything abrasive. (It’s crucial to note that this is a very mild dilute solution that won’t stain or damage anything.)
• Wipe down with clean warm water once more (without any soap). Ascertain that no soapy residue remains.
• Using a dry towel, gently wipe/pat clean the hearth, ensuring that it is as dry as possible.
• Allow the granite hearth to dry overnight before cleaning or polishing it.
Using this method we can get rid of much things. When your hearth is dry, it may have some smearing, but this may be smoothed away.
We recommend doing this once a month instead of weekly if you only light your fire once or twice a week, as long as you sweep the hearth frequently.
When it comes to how often you should thoroughly clean your granite hearth, it depends on how frequently you use it; those who use it daily will have to do it more frequently than those who only use it on rare occasions.
• Remove any dirt and dust from the fireplace using a gentle brush.
• Use a granite cleanser specifically designed for this purpose, being sure to follow the manufacturer’s recommendations.
Acidic cleansers, such as bleach, should not be used on granite since they can cause irreversible damage and affect the color of the hearth.
We recommend deep cleaning every three months for individuals who only use their fireplace infrequently.
