There are two ways to clear the maintenance light on Toyota Tacoma:
1) First method: You can use the manual reset switch located in the center console. To do this, you will need to locate the fuse box. It’s usually located under the hood. After locating it, disconnect the power cable from the battery. Then, turn off the ignition key. Next, remove the keys from the ignition. Now, press and hold the button until the light turns off. Finally, replace all the keys back into the ignition.
2) Second method: You can also use the factory diagnostic tool. In order to access the tool, you will first have to open the door panel. Once opened, you will see a small hole near the steering wheel. Press the button that’s inside the hole. A yellow LED indicator will appear. Turn the ignition key to the ON position. Wait for about 30 seconds. Then, release the button by pressing it again. The light will go out.
If the light still remains after following both methods, then you should call an expert technician. They will be able to identify the problem.
Why do you need to clear the maintenance light?
The maintenance light indicates if there are any issues with your engine or transmission. If you notice the light flashing, then you should not drive the vehicle. Instead, you should take it to the nearest garage.
