Do snakes escape easily?

All snakes are escape artists. It’s not as if they’re particularly bright (like a parrot that knows how to unlatch its cage). Even a small gap in a snake cage is enough for it to break out of its confines. And they will explore their habitats over and over again, looking for such an opening.
