There are a variety of possible explanations for why you are experiencing this common problem. However, there are times when something more complicated like damaged hardware is to blame, such as when bad wiring or a faulty ground connection is to blame. If you’re lucky, the solution may be as simple as rerouting your wires in a different direction. To get rid of engine noise in your car stereo, you can use one of the two methods listed below:

METHOD 1

Remove the car’s audio cables to get started. Once inside the vehicle, run all of the cables over the carpet and chairs before plugging them into your amplifier. If this worked for you, then engine noise is most likely being caused by audio cables being too close to the amplifier’s power wire or being too close to the chassis of a car with a poor ground voltage. Congratulations if you’re no longer able to hear the noise, you’ve found and fixed the problem.

METHOD 2

A metal surface free of paint, grease, or anything else should be your goal. This is the location of your new ground. Reconnect the new grounding point to the blackhead unit group cable. A wire from the back of the head unit can be connected to a metal frame behind the radio, which is connected to the vehicle’s chassis via a connector, to make an even stronger connection to the grounding point. If the noise is gone at this point, it’s possible the head unit has bad ground. However, if the noise persists, you’ll have to invest in an inline power filter or a ground loop isolator to solve the problem.
