Trying to pour hot wax down a drain isn’t something that you should be doing at any time. It causes a slew of problems and is difficult to get out of. This could block your drain from within, not just on the exterior. You can remove wax from a sink drain in one of two ways: by melting it again or by freezing it. You might well have gotten any wax around the outside of the drain even stuck to other components of either the sink if you had been careless regarding putting it down a drain. Whenever you need to re-melt the wax, do not even waste any time boiling a small mug of water repetitively.

A large kettle of water will need to be brought to a boil. Cover the drain with just as much hot water as you want to inside one shot before removing the drain plug. This will melt any wax that has accumulated on the sink’s surface. Allow that to melt, then remove the plug with a long tool or kitchen equipment. There would be enough water running through into the drain to dissolve the wax. If that doesn’t work this time, try again until it succeeds. If you have waste disposal, the freezing approach will work.

If this is the situation, pour ice through the trash chute and enable it to harden the wax. It will harden to the point where you can turn on the disposal and crush the wax. However, if somehow the wax has found its way into the P-trap, only one way to eliminate this and wash it properly is really to extract the trap.

You’ll have to remove the wax if it’s gotten all the way down to the P-drain. In this instance, you have two options: buy a new P-drain or try to heat it enough to melt the wax. To just not forget that even if there are dishes inside the sink, this could get all over them, producing another even huge disaster. The best option is to stop pouring melted wax down the drain.
