How To Paint Bathroom Stalls
Emily Cortez
Metal bathroom partitions have a terrible habit of collecting graffiti artists’ philosophical insights. Some of the club’s more conscientious members will scribble their views with a washable marker or pencil. Others, unfortunately, prefer to scratch through the paint with pointy implements. Repainting is your only choice if this happens. Planning is key to achievement in just about any paint job.

Before sanding, use a wire brush to remove any rust areas. Scuff the entire surface with fine-grade wet/dry sandpaper. A metal bathroom partition’s smooth texture prevents new paint from adhering correctly. The corners should indeed be smoothed as well as any dents or leaking paint should indeed be eliminated. Surface flaws will be highlighted rather than covered by paint.
While spraying, have used a cotton brush to wipe all dirt from the area. Mask any hardware that isn’t already painted if you don’t want to disassemble the panels for painting. Stainless or galvanized steel connectors do not take paint well. This will be easier to remove unless you cover these beforehand paint. If you’re going to use a spray gun or a can to apply the paint, the walls should also be masked.
This application will benefit from appliance paint. It’s been particularly designed to stick to steel. It creates a smooth, washable, and stain-resistant surface when properly applied. Enamel paints will adhere to a properly prepared surface and operate nicely. Rubber coatings should indeed be resisted when at all available. Latex paint is less durable than enamel and is easier to remove from a metal surface after it has dried. The best outcomes will come from a spray treatment. If spraying isn’t possible due to other factors, a high-quality bristle brush should be used instead. Always follow the manufacturer’s thinning, application, and cleanup instructions.
