How To Paint Brass Fireplace Screen Black
Emily Cortez
It is evident that brass fireplace screens were the norm. These gaudy brass screens appear to be present in every house built in the 1980s. However, they’re now old-fashioned, and most homeowners who are seeking to modernize their homes are looking for a replacement with something that’s smaller less…well… less brassy. However, if replacing your fireplace’s brass screen isn’t feasible or you’re not able to locate a replacement screen for your fireplace that’s not standard size painting the screen in the black colour is actually quite easy and can make a huge difference in modernizing your fireplace. It’s the first thing to do is to remove the fireplace’s screen. Be cautious of not “yank” it off as there will be screws that will keep the screen in place and you do not want to tear away from the walls. Now comes the fun part with the opportunity to witness the change. Spread the screen on the outside using a ground cloth. It is helpful to place old cans or other items underneath the screen so that it is dry while sitting on the ground cloth and not get caught on the fabric.

1. 150-grit sandpaper
2. Painters tape
3. High heat paint
4. Paintbrush,
Start by sanding all the brass parts both inside and outside using sandpaper of 150-grit. When it is painting metal, you shouldn’t do too much sanding. It’s better to go overboard with the sanding rather than not doing enough. Paint will last less on surfaces that are slippery. (Keep on your toes that when doors have opened the brass that is on the backside of doors are likely to show. These areas must be sanded too! )d to also be sanded!)Then, tape off all the bricks and glass alongside the brass. Then, open the doors again. taped off the interior of the doors too. Once everything is taped off, prepare for the painting with black color on it. The benefit of high-temperature paint is that there is no primer is required. Apply the paint directly on the smoothed metal. That’s it! Paint your fireplace’s brass screen is quite simple and fast and can make a huge difference in modernizing your fireplace.
