How to prepare for acupuncture?
Rachel Davis
Before scheduling your acupuncture appointment, check to see that you will not be participating in any stressful activities before or afterward. Additionally, avoid scheduling too many appointments on the day of your appointment, as you want to be as relaxed as possible during your acupuncture treatment.

A list of all of your current medications and supplements should be brought with you as a precaution, especially if herbs are a part of your treatment plan as a precaution. This is because some herb-drug interactions can have negative consequences. MAOIs or blood-thinning medications such as Warfarin, for example, may fall into this classification.
Another rule to follow is to consume a meal before your scheduled appointment. The majority of medical professionals recommend that you eat something approximately two hours before your treatment begins. However, you should avoid eating a large meal before your appointment because this may make you feel uneasy during the appointment. The other extreme, on the other hand, should also be avoided. If you arrive at your appointment on an empty stomach, you may experience dizziness and nausea.
For at least two hours before your acupuncture treatment, refrain from drinking caffeine. The fact that coffee is a stimulant means that it increases your body’s fight-or-flight response, something that acupuncture aims to alleviate through treatment.
