How To Remove Cherry Stains From White Pants

Writer David Wilson

Cherry stains are made from plants and can be pre-treated with acids like lemon juice and vinegar. Allow 5 minutes for the stain to soak up the lemon or vinegar treatment. (Hint: If you’re eating out, order a slice of lemon and start pre-treating right away.) It’s also a good idea to use a small brush or toothbrush to tamp down the stain at home. Rinse the stain with water after 5 minutes to ensure that the acid does not damage the fabric.

This pretreatment should release the stain in the majority of cases. After rubbing the spot with detergent, machine or hand wash as usual in your preferred detergent. If lemon juice or vinegar don’t work, use an enzyme-based stain remover. Enzymes are amino acids found in nature that help to break down the basic components of stains. Since enzymatic reactions operate on different types of staining, a stain treatment containing phytase is indeed the method to go after plant-based discoloration like blueberries. Sprinkle the stain with just an enzyme-based stain which was before including such Indicators or Puracy following draining the lemon juice or vinegar from fabric.

Allow the enzymes to work for 15 minutes.

Inside the washer, launder your clothing as usual — in heated air for whites and allow it to cool for colored. Alternatively, if the clothing requires simply dry cleaning, take it to a dry cleaner. If the discoloration persists, try an oxygenated bleach such as 3 percent hydrogen peroxide or chlorine bleach as a last resort.

Most colors are safe with hydrogen peroxide bleaches like OxiClean and Clorox2, but chlorine has a stronger stain-removing capacity and is therefore preferable for whites. Check on an unobtrusive part of the material first, as it can also induce color fading. Furthermore, I would not keep either of these bleaching products just on item for further than once minute without washing with water to prevent harming the strands. If you want to bleach the garments in the washer, use ordinary bleach and pour it through the bleach dispenser rather than straight onto the clothes.
