How To Remove Lipstick Stains From Clothes After Drying

Writer Robert King

Lipstick is a short-term cure for a light pucker, but it is more of an issue than a solution whenever it goes on your clothes. Having oils, waxes, and colors packed into that small tube of lipstick, removing the stain isn’t quite as straightforward as throwing the clothing in the washing machine. And it is always best to treat a stain before laundering it in any way, and even if the clothing has been rinsed, the lipstick can still be erased. This could take multiple procedures to totally eliminate the lipstick stain, however, if you put in the effort, you could save your lipstick-stained clothing.

Using denatured alcohol, moisten a clean rag. Utilizing a cotton swab, wipe the alcohol onto the lipstick stain. Following letting the alcohol evaporate on the clothes, saturate the place using liquid washing powder. Using your fingers, rub the detergent into the stain. Let the clothes dry naturally for several hours. Use laundry detergent and the warmest water advised just on the instruction label to wash the items.

If chlorine bleach is suitable for the cloth, put this in the washer for white items, or color-safe bleach for colored apparel. For the actual amount of bleach to use based on the batch size, check the bleach label. Allow the clothes to air dry following washing and check for lipstick stains. If the lipstick stain persists after cleaning and air drying, dab dry-cleaning solvent onto the clothing with such a clean rag. To absorb the liquid, wipe with a dry towel.

Reapply the liquid washing detergent to a stain. Let it remain for one couple extra hours until washing the clothing as advised. If the lipstick stain remains, use a home lubricant spray to remove it. Use dishwashing soap to a place after working the lubricating spray into it with your fingertips. As stated previously, wash the clothing as recommended.
