Although rust may seem like the end, it is possible to save oxidized items. You can make your expensive chef’s knife look new once you know how to remove rust. There are many ways to remove rust. Many of these methods use items that you already own. Use these three methods to bring back life to your metal.

Eliminate Rust Using White Vinegar

To remove items that have substantial corrosion, immerse the rusty knives or tools in the bowl of vinegar and allow them to sit for a night. After they’ve received a thorough soak, remove them from the solution and rub off the rust using wire wool or a brush. (This could require elbow grease.) If there remain spots of rust, repeat the process, and soak the object for a longer period. Once all corrosion has been eliminated, wash the surface using dish soap and water and dry it thoroughly.

Get rid of rust using baking soda

Baking soda is a great option for things with light rust stains. It is also effective for items made from thin metal; mix baking soda and water to form a thick paste. Spread it all over the metal to ensure that the rusty spots are covered. The paste should rest on the metal for a few hours. Utilize steel wool or wire brushes to scrub the object and then remove the corrosion. Rinse off the paste using water and then dry completely.

Get rid of rust with lemon and salt

This method combines the lemon’s acidity and the abrasiveness of salt to get rid of small spots of rust. Cover the areas that are rusted with salt; after that, squeeze the lemon juice on top of the salt. Allow the salt and lemon mixture to sit for approximately two hours. Clean the object using the lemon rind or, if the spots are stubborn, you can employ steel wool or wire brushes. Rinse the salt, lemon, and rust, and then dry completely.
