How To Repel Insects From Light?
Sarah Silva
One of the most effective ways to beautify your property and home is to install porch or lawn lights. It is both cost-effective and elegant. It makes it easier to walk around the property at night. And it also increases safety by deterring any potential hooligans.

A different type of lightbulb is one of the simplest and most cost-effective solutions. The UV radiation from common light bulbs, such as halogen, compact fluorescent, and incandescent light bulbs, is commonly emitted by lightbulbs.
The UV light emitted by the porch light attracts bugs because they use the moon’s UV light to navigate. Your porch light will last longer if it is replaced with an LED or incandescent bulb. It will also make your lightbulb less visible to insects. Special light bulbs are also available that keep bugs away. These lightbulbs are yellow-tinted, making it difficult for insects to see.
Some methods to repel insects from light
1. Consider Using a Different Type of Bulb
A different type of lightbulb is a good option if you have many insects around your porch light. The UV radiation from common light bulbs, such as halogen, compact fluorescent, and incandescent light bulbs, is commonly emitted by lightbulbs.

2. Add a Screen
Although it is more expensive, this method can keep bugs out of your porch light. The screen creates a barrier that bugs cannot pass through.
3. Get A Bug Zapper
The blue light from bug zappers attracts insects. A bug zapper can be placed on your porch to attract insects. The bug zapper should be hung a few feet from the porch light.
This solution might not be right for you if you are sensitive to the occasional zap of electricity interrupting your dinner or peacefully sitting on your porch. If you don’t mind bugs flying around your porch lights, this is a cost-effective option.
4. Natural Insect Repellent Spray
To repel insects, you will need to make a natural repellent with essential oils and spray it around your porch light. You should not spray the repellent on the porch light as it could cause it to go out. This is dangerous for your home and you.
Make an essential oil spray by choosing any combination of rosemary, lavender, mint, thyme or cloves. Mix a few drops with soapy water in a spray bottle. Spray the solution on the area surrounding the light. You may need to do this several times per day in summer because of the increased humidity.
