When it comes to replacing your Lexus IS300 headlight bulb, there are a few things you need to know. For one, the procedure is straightforward, but there are a few things you need to take into account. Secondly, not all headlight bulbs are created equal – so it’s important that you select the right one for your car.
The first step in replacing your headlight bulb is to gather the necessary tools. You’ll need a Phillips head screwdriver and a flat head screwdriver. You’ll also need a replacement bulb because what exactly you’re going to replace it with will depend on the type of bulb in your Lexus IS300. Since this is a common car model, the bulbs are straightforward, but if you would like to double-check before buying one online or at your local auto parts store, you can always refer to your owner’s manual for specs on the current bulb.
Next, you should park your vehicle in a spot that has plenty of room around it (i.e., outside), turn off the engine, and pop open the hood. This will make access much easier and give you some breathing room while working under all those greasy engine parts. Next up: Headlight housing screws. You’ll find two of them, one on either side of the headlight housing. Use your Phillips head screwdriver to unscrew these and set them aside – you won’t need them again until it’s time to put everything back together.
Now that the screws are out and the cover is off, you should be able to see the current headlight bulb. It’s likely that it’s covered in dirt and grime at this point, so give it a good wipe down before removing it.
