How to sleep with a cast?
David Wilson
Lie flat on your back with your leg propped up on a pillow. Continue to stack pillows on top of each other until your leg is at least 10cm (over 1.25 inches) above your heart level. Keep in mind that lying in a Lazyboy Chair DOES NOT raise your leg above your heart.

Elevate the troubled area. Use pillows to raise your child’s cast above the level of his or her heart for the first 24 to 72 hours after the cast is applied.
Ice should be applied. Wrap an ice pack wrapped in a thin towel loosely around your child’s cast at the site of the injury.
Continue to move.
Why does broken bone pain seem to be worse at night?
During the night, there will be a drop in the stress hormone cortisol which actually has an anti-inflammatory response. Because there is less inflammation and less healing during the night, the damage to bone caused by the aforementioned conditions accelerates, with pain as a side effect.
What’s the deal with my cast being so uneasy?
Why is my cast feeling so uneasy? A cast or splint is likely to feel tight at first. Raise one arm or leg above your heart using pillows or another support. Keeping your cast elevated allows fluid to drain “downhill.” If you have a splint or cast on your leg, you must recline.
How do you sit when you have a cast on?
Throughout the day, wiggle your toes at regular intervals.
Regularly bend your knee (not for patients with above the knee casts)
Lift your leg up while you keep your knee straight (ten times)
Is it possible to have a cast removed early?
Always remove any covering as soon as possible to avoid sweating, which can damage the cast. Do not poke anything underneath the plaster cast, even if it itches your skin. This could result in a nasty sore and infection.
