Baby Guinea pigs are usually born in a litter of almost 2 to 4, but this number can go up to 8. The size of the baby guinea pigs is related to the litter size. The larger the litter, the smaller will be the size of the pups and vice versa. 

What Baby Guinea Pigs Look Like?

The baby guinea pigs usually weigh around 70 to 115 gm. The baby guinea pigs are almost 3 to 5 inches. Baby guinea pigs are born precocial and still need nursing from their mothers for almost three to six weeks. Their precocial behavior when they are born also includes the digestion of solid food like pellet, grass, and hay in about a day, but they still need the nutrients from their mother’s feed. 

Baby guinea pigs are precocial but are still sensitive. When you approach the baby guinea pigs, you should directly face them to interact so they can see you coming. They need the mother feed every 120 minutes. 

Baby Guinea pigs have almost 11 kinds of callouts. 

Their communication includes the sound of an alarm, getting the herd’s attention from a great distance, initiation of mating, and making of their social bonds. The baby guinea pigs have a great ability to link with each other. They have 20 teethes in their mouth when they are born. They have coat fur on their body and can walk around easily.
