What Do Beetles Eat?

Beetles are said to be strictly herbivores but it seems that they are more omnivores because they cant eat insects, and other animals and not just plants. Beetles in the desert, wild, or captivity don’t always eat the same things. Where they are can affect their diets and they are actually able to eat. For the most part, beetles can eat fruits, plants, flowers, stems, roots, seeds, insects, leaves, and more.

Insects

Beetles eat bugs, bed bugs, fleas, dragonflies, earwigs, ladybugs, aphids, flies, cicadas, and butterflies. Also, beetles can eat bees, caterpillars, millipedes, cockroaches, mites,  earwigs, hornets, mosquitoes, slugs, and wasps. You can also find beetles that eat termites, ticks, woodlice, worms, and rolly pollies. Beetles are said to omnivores that eat other insects as well as plants.

Fruits

Beetles like to feed on different kinds off fruits. Beetles will eat apples, berries, bananas, grapes, and strawberries. Fruits do play a role in the diet of beetles. It’s not out of the ordinary to see beetles eating various fruits.

Vegetables

Vegetables are regularly eaten by beetles because they like vegetables. Beetles eat carrots, tomatoes, corn, leaves, lettuce, plants, and tomato plants. Due to how they are, beetles will consume various kinds of vegetables.

Beetles can also be herbivores as well. Based on this, beetles will eat basil, cactus, carrion, dandelions, flowers, ferns, fungi, grass, figs, and sunflowers. Other beetles can also eat hostas, plant roots, roses, seeds, trees, wood, nectar, petunias, house plants, lilies, moss, and mush rooms.

Beetles can eat clothes and put holes in them as well. Beetles could eat cheese but its not healthy for them to feed on cheese.

No, beetles don’t eat chickens, ducks, eagles, frogs, hawks, spiders, or scorpions. These animals and insects can actually easily eat beetles. However, beetles can eat earthworms, mealworms, snails, larvae,  grasshoppers, ladybirds, pollen, morning glory, roaches, reeds, and dead animals.

Beetles can certainly eat yucca, water, wool, worms, plastic, sugar, things, sagebrush, paper, mint, mold, jelly, and lavender. Humans don’t have to be afraid of beetles; this is because beetles can’t eat humans. There are beetles that will eat poop.

Beetles will eat dog food and certain fabrics if they get access to them. Yes, beetles do eat honey, garlic mustard, jelly, potatoes, other bugs, and meat. Beetles aren’t known to green anoles or lizards; they will eat smaller insects and animals. In the desert, rain forest, and wild, beetles will primarily eat plants or insects.
