The blue shark is also known as The Great Blue Shark. It belongs to requiem sharks from the Carcharhinidae family. It is found in deep oceans of temperate and tropical regions of the world. It reaches to a length of 3.8 to 4 meters. It is considered the most prolific among its range. They have 14 teeth on either side of their jaw. The upper jaw has a more symmetrical tooth. They have flexible jaws and sharp teeth to capture their prey immediately.

An interesting fact is that blue sharks are not dangerous for humans. In fact, in the last 400 years, there are only 14 cases reported of human attack by blue sharks. They don’t have an aggressive nature; they only retaliate to something irritating. Blue sharks are placental viviparous, which means their young ones develop inside their uterus.
Young ones are around 30-35 pups but can be large up to 150. They are found in the Atlantic Ocean, Pacific ocean, Indian ocean in both onshore and offshore water. They are found in 50 degree northern latitude to 50 degree southern latitude. The maximum lifespan of a blue shark is above 20 years. They are curious, open ocean predators.

Blue sharks mostly feed on squids, it’s their favorite food.
Blue sharks mainly eat cuttlefish and octopuses, especially pelagic octopuses. Moreover, Blue sharks eat fresh lobsters, shrimp, small sharks, some bony fishes, frogs, snails, mammalian carrion, and sometimes seabirds. Oftentimes they feed on small sea insects too.

Blue sharks don’t like to eat herbaceous matter like plants, fruits, and vegetables. Also, Blue sharks don’t eat cheese or dairy products like milk and yogurt, etc.
