Brown bats are also named brown myotis. They have mouse-like ears. These microbats are native to the Northern United States and Canada. It has a very small body and shiny and glossy fur all over the skin. It is similar in appearance to Indiana and northern long-eared bats. It usually inhabits buildings, woods, rocks, poles, trees, caves, and roost sites. They live in large colonies and it makes them very easy for their predators to catch.

During the flight, they are captured and killed by some owls and hawks. They travel very long to reach their summer habitat called hibernacula. Little brown bats fly approximately up to 6-34 km high in the sky with 4 to 21 mph at the rate of 15 strokes per second.
Their flight pattern is erratic. A medium-sized brown bat weighs around 0.2 to 0.5 ounces and has a wingspan of around 9 to 11 inches in length. Shiny fur is dark brownish to cinnamon buffy with a long glossy tip and pale grey underside. Bats are mammals; they give birth to a baby bat once a year, they don’t lay eggs. Bats are totally insectivorous.

Brown Bats are insectivorous they mainly forage on insects like beetles especially because beetles have a hard exoskeleton and they can easily chew beetles with their powerful and strong jaws. Brown Bats eat
flying insects like moths, butterflies, flies, wasps, flying ants, mosquitoes, grasshoppers, and other flying insects.
Plants and fruits
As they are insectivorous, Brown Bats do not directly forage on fruits and plants instead they suck nectar and pulp from plants and fruits to fulfill their nutritional requirements.
